The metabolism of valproic acid has large individual differences, and its therapeutic window is narrow, and it interacts with a variety of drugs, which often requires therapeutic monitoring. The effective blood concentration range is 50-100 μg/mL. As early as 1882, Professor Beverley Burton of France synthesized valproic acid in his laboratory. Valproic acid is a colorless liquid at room temperature, and since pharmacological studies have shown that this compound has no pharmacological effect, valproic acid has always been a solvent commonly used in the laboratory. If the drug is insoluble to water, valproic acid will be used instead of the solvent to dissolve the drug.
