Valproic acid is a colorless liquid at room temperature, and since pharmacological studies have shown that this compound has no pharmacological effect, valproic acid has always been a solvent commonly used in the laboratory. If the drug is insoluble to water, valproic acid will be used instead of the solvent to dissolve the drug.
