Tartaric Acid

Tartaric acid, colorless crystal or white crystalline powder, odorless, sour taste, relatively stable in the air. Tartaric acid is an important retarding agent in building materials gypsum, it can also be used as cement retarding agent, especially used as self-leveling mortar retarding agent.

Several of its salts have important applications, such as the preparation of Fehling's reagent with potassium sodium tartrate in the laboratory for the identification of aldehyde functional groups in the structure of organic molecules.
