Sebacic acid also known as n-sebacic acid, 1, 10-sebacic acid, 1, 8-octanedioic acid, sebacic acid. Sebacic acid is an aliphatic dibasic acid found in flue-cured tobacco leaves, burley tobacco leaves and flavoured tobacco leaves. At room temperature, sebacic acid is white flake crystal, and industrial products are slightly yellow. Slightly soluble in water, insoluble in benzene,   easily soluble in ethanol and ether. Sebacic acid is flammable and low toxic. It is harmful when taken orally and has irritating effects on the eyes, respiratory system and skin. Natural castor oil or hexadipate monoester as raw materials, mainly used to produce sebacic acid esters, the esters have a wide range of uses. Sebacic acid has the molecular formula C10H18O4 and the chemical formula HOOC(CH2)8COOH.

Sebacic acid is widely used, mainly used to make sebacic acid esters, and its esters are widely used, such as dibutyl sebacate, dioctyl sebacate, diisooctyl sebacate. It is also a raw material for the production of alkyd resins (used as surface coatings, plasticizer cellulose nitrate coatings and urea resin varnishes) and plasticizers, softeners and solvents for polyurethane rubber, cellulose resin, vinyl resin and synthetic rubber.
