Methyl Alcohol,other name Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, is an organic compound that is toxic. It is the simplest saturated monohydric alcohol. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH4O, of which CH3OH is a simplified structural formula, which can highlight the hydroxyl group of methanol. The CAS number is 67-56-1, the molecular weight is 32.04, and the boiling point is 64.7 °C. Because it was first discovered in dry distillation wood, it is also called "wood alcohol" or "wood essence". It is used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, and as an extractant for organic matter and a denaturant for alcohol. Finished products are usually made by reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen.
