It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, food flavorings, and tobacco flavorings, and can be used as an organic tin heat stabilizer and a polymer molecular weight regulator. Polymethyl mercaptoacetate can also be used as a low-temperature curing agent for epoxy resins, optical lenses, and manufacturing adhesives.
