Myrcene, also known as geranylene, is an organic substance with the chemical formula C10H16. Alpha-laurene is less present in nature, and β-laurene is commonly used in the spice industry. Beta-laurene is a colorless or yellowish liquid with a light balsam aroma. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol. It is found in cinnamon oil, maple grass oil, cypress wood oil, spruce oil, turpentine oil, lemongrass oil, lemon oil, etc. Laurene can be separated by decompression fractionation.

Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform. Blends with most other spices.
Aroma: A pleasant, light balsam scent.
Stability: It is easy to polymerize or be oxidized in the air, and should not be kept for a long time.
