Estradiol, also known as "estrus", "courtship hormone". There are alpha and beta types, one of which is estrogen. The most abundant and the most active. It is secreted by granulosa cells of ovarian follicles. Its metabolites are estrone and estradiol. It has 18 carbon atoms. The target organs are uterus, vagina, fallopian tube and pituitary gland. It can be used as an estrogen therapeutic agent absorbed through the skin. Supplement the deficiency of 17-β estradiol secreted by the female ovary, while avoiding the side effects caused by oral administration (breast pain, weight gain, high blood pressure, gallstones and abnormal liver function, etc.). Estrogen causes cells to synthesize DNA, RNA, and various proteins in the corresponding tissues.

Estradiol is a steroid estrogen. There are two types of α and β, α type has a strong physiological effect. Wintersteiner et al. (1935) have been extracted from pregnant horse urine, but also from pregnancy-induced urine, human placenta, pig ovaries, etc. It's also found in the testicles and urine of male horses. Because it has a strong sex hormone effect, it is considered that it or its ester is actually the most important sex hormone secreted by the ovary.

3. To treat advanced prostate cancer, symptoms are significantly improved, pain is relieved, and testes are removed and then treated with estrogen.
4. To prevent osteoporosis, it is used in the early postmenopausal period to prevent rapid bone loss due to estrogen deficiency.
5. To treat acne (pimples), it can be used in more severe cases in men and female patients can be selected for estrogen and progesterone compound preparations.
6. Leukopenia, used for leukopenia caused by chemotherapy or radiotherapy in malignant tumors, with a significant effect on raising white blood cells.
7. As a post-coital contraceptive.
8. To induce lactation withdrawal.
