Hematoxylin

Hematoxylin, a brown crystalline powder with the chemical formula C16H14O6, is used as a staining agent for nuclei and chromatin. Used for spectrophotometric determination of vanadium, aluminum, tin (IV), fluorine, niobium, tantalum, etc.

Hematoxylin and eosin are often used histologically, and unlike iodine solution, this is a permanent stain.
