Isobutanol is an organic compound with the chemical formula c4h10o. It is a flammable, irritating, colorless and transparent liquid with a special smell. It is easily soluble in ethanol and ether. Its vapor and air can form an explosive mixture, which will cause combustion and explosion in case of open fire and high heat. When heated, it will decompose and release toxic gases. It can react strongly with oxidants. In a fire, heated containers may explode.
Isobutanol is colorless liquid which is used for production of ethers used as plasticizing agents in production of cable insulation and car finishing materials. Colourless, transparent liquid with characteristic odour.
Isobutanol is widely used in technology and industry.
