At room/normal temperature, the chemical properties of graphite powder are very stable, insoluble in water, dilute acid, dilute alkali and organic solvents. Graphite powder with high temperature conductivity, can be refractory materials, conductive materials, and wear-resistant lubrication materials.
Graphite powder reacts with oxygen at different temperatures to form carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide. In halogens only fluorine can react directly with elemental carbon, Under heating, graphite powder is easy to be oxidized by acid. Graphite powder can also react with many metals to form metal carbide at high temperature, which can applied for metallurgy.
