There is a rotten taste, which is the reason for the deterioration of the oil. Commercial oleic acid generally contains 7% to 12% saturated fatty acids.

Pure sodium oleate has good decontamination ability, can be used as surfactant such as emulsifier, and can be used to treat cholelithiasis. Other metal salts of oleic acid can also be used for waterproof fabrics, lubricants, polishes, etc. Barium salts can be used as rodenticides.
