After oral administration of bisacodyl, the products decomposed by intestinal bacteria and the drug itself have a strong stimulating effect on the intestinal wall, which can stimulate the sensory nerve endings to produce parasympathetic reflex, causing intestinal reflex peristalsis and leading to defecation. Bisacodyl can also stimulate local axon reflexes and segmental reflexes, and produce extensive colonic peristalsis. Therefore, bisacodyl may be effective for patients with ganglion blockage or spinal cord damage (paraplegia, polio). At the same time, bisacodyl can inhibit the absorption of sodium, chlorin and water in the colon, increase the volume of the intestine, and cause reflex defecation. Clinical application has confirmed that there is no damage to the heart, lung, liver, kidney, hematopoietic system and immune system after using bisacodyl.
