Toluidine blue is an organic dye. It is a cyan to blue crystalline powder that is soluble in water and organic solvents.

Nature:
1. Appearance: toluidine blue is blue crystalline powder.
2. Solubility: It is soluble in organic solvents such as water, alcohol, ether and benzene, showing a blue solution.
3. pH range: toluidine blue appears red under acidic conditions of pH 3-4, and yellow under alkaline conditions of pH 11-12.
4. Easy oxidation: toluidine blue is easily oxidized by oxygen in the air to produce other compounds.
