Tert-butyl cyanoacetate

Tert-butyl cyanoacetate (also known as tert-butyl cyanate) is an organic compound. It is a colorless liquid and has a fragrance at room temperature.

Synthesis of ester and amide compounds. Tert-butyl cyanoacetate can also be used as an ingredient in artificial flavors.

The preparation of tert-butyl cyanoacetate is obtained by esterification of tert-butanol and cyanoacetic acid. The specific reaction conditions can be adjusted according to laboratory conditions, such as catalysis with dilute sulfuric acid under acidic conditions.
