Potassium Persulfate

Potassium persulfate is a kind of inorganic compound, chemical formula K2S2O8, is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, with strong oxidation, commonly used as bleach, oxidant, can also be used as polymerization initiator, almost no moisture absorption, good stability at room temperature, easy to store, with convenient and safe advantages.

Appearance: white crystalline powder.
​Solubility: soluble in water, the dissolution rate is slower than ammonium persulfate, the aqueous solution is acidic, insoluble in ethanol.

1, mainly used as disinfectant and fabric bleaching agent;
2, used as the initiator of monomer emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate, acrylic ester, acrylonitrile, styrene, vinyl chloride (use temperature 60 ~ 85℃), and synthetic resin polymerization accelerator;
3. Potassium persulfate is an intermediate of hydrogen peroxide by electrolytic process, which is decomposed into hydrogen peroxide;
4, potassium persulfate is used in steel and alloy oxidation solution and copper etching and coarsening treatment, can also be used for solution impurity treatment;
5, used as an analytical reagent, chemical production as an oxidant, initiator. It is also used for film printing and as a sodium thiosulfate remover.

The influence of temperature and pH value on decomposition rate, the higher the temperature, the smaller the influence of pH value on decomposition rate, the presence of emulsifier and mercaptan can accelerate decomposition. In alkaline solution, some metal ions such as Ni2+, Co2+, Pb2+, Mn3+ form black oxide precipitation. It has strong oxidation and coagulability. Explosion occurs when mixed with organic matter or reducing matter.
