(S) -Timolol maleate is a new potent β-receptor blocker, which can block both β1 and β2 receptors with 8 times the intensity of propranolol. It has no membrane stabilization effect, no endogenous sympathetic-like activity, no direct cardiac inhibitory effect, and significantly reduces iOP.

It is used in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, tachycardia and glaucoma.
