colorless transparent flammable, volatile liquid. With ethanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents miscible, slightly soluble in water. With ether odor and spicy taste. The vapor is toxic! It turns pale yellow in air and in light.
It is used as an ethyl agent in organic synthesis, and is also a raw material for the synthesis of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyes and fragrances. It can also be used as a refrigerant, a solvent, a fumigant, and the like.
