Sodium benzoate:
(chemical formula:C6H5CO2Na) is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. Sodium benzoate is an acid preservative with good antiseptic effect in an acidic environment. It is a commonly used food preservative. It has the effect of preventing deterioration and sourness and prolonging the shelf life. It is widely used in all countries in the world.

- In addition to acting as a preservative in food sources, Sodium Benzoate is used to extend the shelf life of toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, shampoo, lotions, ointments, medicinal syrups or pills. This can be added to prevent the growth of bacteria or as a corrosion inhibitor that will keep metallic products from rusting. Also used in dying, printing, tobacco industries.
