Chloroacetyl chloride is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a very pungent, extremely irritating, odor.
1. Chloroacetyl chloride is an active acylating agent and an important organic synthesis intermediate.
2. Widely used in the synthesis of amino acids, pesticides, medicines, dyes, additives, extraction solvents, refrigerants, fire extinguishing agents, lubricant additives, military gas, etc.
3. At present, it is the most widely used and the largest in pesticides.
4. It is a synthetic intermediate of important pesticides such as oxachlor, acetochlor and omethoate.
