Nature:
3-mercapto-1, 2-propylene glycol is a colorless to light yellow liquid. It has two hydroxyl groups and a sulfhydryl group (a functional group formed by combining a sulfur atom with a hydrogen atom), which gives this compound a certain hydrophilicity.

1. Used as stabilizer and polymerization regulator of acrylonitrile polymer; Modifier of reactive dyes; Sensitizer raw materials for photosensitive coatings; Epoxy resin coating polymerization adjuster; Catalyst of epoxy monoamine resin; Stabilizer of chlorine-containing polymer, etc.
2.3-mercapto-1, 2-propylene glycol is widely used in organic synthesis. It can be used to make thiamine (vitamin B1), mercaptoglycine (a common amino acid), and mercaptotyramine (an antioxidant).
