Blue-green crystal. Soluble in water, liquid ammonia, ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, aqueous solution is acidic, hygroscopic, humid air quickly delix. Slowly weathering in dry air, losing four molecules of water when heated, begins to decompose and form a basic salt at temperatures above 110, and continues to heat to produce a mixture of brown-black nickel sesquioxide and green nickelous oxide.
