Pregabalin belongs to non gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor agonists or antagonists, and is a novel calcium channel modulator that can block voltage dependent calcium channels and reduce neurotransmitter release. It is mainly used clinically for neuralgia related to diabetes peripheral neuropathy, post herpetic neuralgia and auxiliary treatment of adult partial epilepsy, generalized anxiety disorder, central neuralgia (including neuralgia associated with spinal cord injury, stroke and multiple sclerosis) and fibromyalgia.
