Dicyanodiamide

Dicyandiamine, abbreviated DICY or DCD. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H4N4, which is a dimer of cyanamide and a cyanide derivative of guanidine. Chemical formula C2H4N4. White crystalline powder. Soluble in water, alcohol, ethylene glycol and dimethylformamide, almost insoluble in ether and benzene. Stable when dry.

Properties: white crystalline powder. The solubility in water is 2.26% at 13℃, and the solubility is larger in hot water. When the aqueous solution is gradually decomposed at 80℃, ammonia gas is produced. The solubility of anhydrous ethanol (C2H5OH) and ether is 1.26% and 0.01% respectively at 13℃. Soluble in liquid ammonia, hot water, ethanol, acetone hydrate, dimethylformamide, insoluble in ether, insoluble in benzene and chloroform. The relative density (d254) is 1.40. Melting point 209.5℃. Stable when dry. It doesn't burn. Low toxicity, median lethal dose (mice, oral)>4000mg/kg. The maximum allowable concentration in the air is 5mg/m³.

(4) As a fine chemical intermediate. The pharmaceutical intermediate 5-azacytosine can be obtained by the reaction of dicyandiamide with formic acid.

Used as a latent curing agent of epoxy resin adhesive, the formulation of a single component epoxy adhesive, only when the particle size of diamine is less than 5μm(2500 mesh), can form a suspension in the epoxy resin, without precipitating. The reference dosage is 4 ~ 12 parts, and the application period of 100g epoxy resin composition is 6 ~ 12 months. The storage period of dicyandiamine is less than 2 months when the dosage is 17 parts, and the storage period can reach half a year when the dosage is 8 parts. The curing conditions are 170℃/lh or 180℃/20min, and the thermal deformation temperature is 125℃. Also used as a hardener for one component aqueous epoxy adhesives. Reference dosage 7 copies. The combination system of dicyandiamine (5 ~ 6 parts) and hydrazide (3 ~ 4 parts) can cure epoxy resin at 120℃/45min.
