Using calcium carbide as raw material can produce a series of chemical products, such as PVC resin, polyvinyl alcohol, vinyl acetate, neoprene rubber, butanol, octanol, tricyanoethylene, tetracyanoethylene, acetaldehyde, acetylene carbon black, lime nitrogen, etc. The largest use is the production of PVC resin, accounting for 60% of the consumption of calcium carbide for chemical purposes.
