A yellow, hygroscopic, transparent and viscous liquid with a pungent ammonia odor, flammable and strongly alkaline. It is soluble in water, acetone, benzene, ether, methanol, etc., but insoluble in n-heptane. It is corrosive to copper and its alloys. Melting point: -35℃. Boiling point: 207℃. Relative density 0.9586. Flash point: 94℃. Refractive index 1.4810. This product has the reactivity of secondary amines and readily reacts with a variety of compounds. Its derivatives have a wide range of applications.
Production method
It can be prepared by the ammonification of dichloroethane. 1, 2-chloroethane and ammonia water were sent into a tubular reactor for the hot-pressing ammonification reaction at a temperature of 150-250℃ and a pressure of 322.3 kpa. The reaction solution is neutralized with alkali to obtain a mixed free amine. After concentration, sodium chloride is removed simultaneously. Then, the crude product is subjected to vacuum distillation, and the fraction between 195 and 215℃ is cut off to obtain the finished product. This method simultaneously produces ethylenediamine, triethylenetetramine, tetraethylenepentamine and polyethylenepolyamine. The amine mixture can be distilled by controlling the temperature of the distillation column, and different fractions can be separated to obtain the mixture.
This product is mainly used as a solvent and organic synthesis intermediate. It can be used to produce epoxy resin curing agents, gas purifying agents (for CO2 removal), lubricating oil additives, emulsifiers, photographic chemicals, surfactants, fabric finishing agents, paper strengthening agents, aminocarboxyl complexing agents, metal chelating agents, heavy metal hydrometallurgy and cyanide-free electroplating diffusion agents, and brighteners. And synthesize ion exchange resins and polyamide resins, etc.
