Calcium Fluoride

1.Character: 
      It is quiaxed crystal system, cube, octahedron or dodecahedron. Colorless crystal or white powder. Extremely insoluble in water. Soluble in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and ammonium salt solution, insoluble in acetone. It dissolves in aluminum salt and iron salt solution to form complex, and reacts with hot concentrated sulfuric acid to produce hydrofluoric acid. Hydrogen fluoride can be prepared by reacting calcium fluoride with concentrated sulfuric acid in a lead container. Can form eutectic with various metal oxides.

The uses of calcium fluoride mainly include the following aspects:
1.Aluminum smelting: Calcium fluoride as an additive to bauxite, can control the melting point and increase the yield of aluminum.
