4-Methoxyphenol is a chemical that appears as a white flake or waxy crystal. The molecular formula is C7H8O2. It is used as an inhibitor of vinyl-based plastic monomer, ultraviolet inhibitor, dye intermediate and antioxidant BHA (3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole) for the synthesis of edible oils and cosmetics. It is an important intermediate of fine chemical products such as medicine, spices and pesticides. Mainly used for the production of acrylonitrile, acrylic acid and its ester, methacrylic acid and its ester and other alken-based monomer inhibitor. Its biggest advantage is that it does not need to remove p-hydroxyanisole when used, and it can directly participate in polymerization. It is also used in the synthesis of antioxidants, plasticizers and food additives (BHA).
