A colorless transparent liquid with a earthy odor, and containing trace amounts of phenols, it has a mint flavor. Impurities are light yellow in color and develop impurities over time, appearing in a water white to grayish yellow color with a strong pungent odor. Mixing with air has the same explosive polarity as open chain saturated ketones. There is insufficient evidence of carcinogenicity of cyclohexanone, which is mainly used as an organic synthesis raw material and solvent in industry. Cyclohexanone is an important chemical raw material and the main intermediate for the manufacture of nylon, caprolactam and adipic acid. It is also an important industrial solvent, such as paint, especially those containing nitrocellulose, vinyl chloride polymer and its copolymer or methacrylate polymer paint. It is an excellent solvent for organophosphorus pesticides and many similar pesticides, as a solvent for dyes, as a viscous solvent for piston type aviation lubricants, and as a solvent for grease, wax and rubber. It is also used as homogenizing agent for dyeing and fading silk, degreasing agent for polishing metal, and coloring and painting of wood. Used as high boiling point solvent for cosmetics such as nail polish. It is usually mixed with low boiling point solvent and medium boiling point solvent to obtain appropriate volatilization rate and viscosity.

First aid measures 
Skin contact: take off contaminated clothes and wash skin thoroughly with soapy water and clear water. Eye contact: lift the eyelids immediately and wash thoroughly with a large amount of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention. Inhalation: quickly leave the site to a place with fresh air. Keep respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately.
