4-Methoxybenzoic Acid/Anisic Acid

4-Methoxybenzoic acid was used in oxidation and reduction of cytochrome c in solution through different self-assembled monolayers on gold electrodes using cyclic voltammetry. It is also the sole source of carbon and energy for growth in the cultures of Nocardia sp. DSM 1069. Description Anisic acid or methoxybenzoic acid is an organic compound which is a carboxylic acid. P-Anisic acid, known also as 4-methoxybenzoic acid or Draconic acid, which is a methoxybenzoic acid substituted with a methoxy group at position C-4, and P-Anisic acid is an organic acid with sweet flavor. It is one of the isomers (m-anisic acid, and o-anisic acid) of anisic acid. The term anisic acid is often used to describe p-anisic acid and P-anisic acid is produced through the oxidation of p-cresyl-methyl ether. P-Anisic acid is a carboxylic acid found naturally in anise, a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae. P-Anisic acid exists as a white crystalline solid which is insoluble in water, highly soluble in alcohols, and soluble in ether.

Physical and chemical properties: This product is white powder crystal, tasteless, odorless, taste numb tongue feeling. Soluble in hot water and alcohol, ether, acetone, slightly soluble in cold water, benzene, insoluble in carbon disulfide. Soluble in 125 parts of cold water, relative density 1.46.

Uses: This product can be used as a preservative, dye, medicine and injection molding intermediate, esterified with alcohol coparaben ester, is also the main raw material of high molecular liquid crystal polymer, pesticide intermediate raw material.
