Potassium Bromide

Potassium bromide is an inorganic substance with the formula KBr and a relative molecular mass of 119.00. Colorless crystal or white powder, strong salty taste, see light color yellow. Slightly hygroscopic. 1g dissolved in 1.5ml water, the aqueous solution is neutral. The relative density is 2.75(25℃). Melting point 730℃. Boiling point 1435℃. It's stimulating. Mainly used for spectral analysis, spot analysis to determine copper and silver, polarographic analysis of indium, cadmium and arsenic, developer.

Colorless cubic crystal. Odorless, salty and slightly bitter. See light easily yellow, slightly hygroscopic. It is soluble in water (102g/100ml water at 100℃) and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether. The aqueous solution is neutral. The bromine ion can be replaced by fluorine and chlorine. It reacts with sulfuric acid to form hydrogen bromide. Reacts with silver nitrate to form yellow silver bromide precipitate.
