Benzocaine

Benzocaine is a kind of organic compound, chemical formula is C9H11NO2, colorless oblique crystal, odorless and tasteless, soluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform, soluble in almond oil, olive oil, diluted acid, difficult to dissolve in water, clinically used in wound, ulcer surface, burn, skin scratches and hemorrhoids analgesia, itching. Systemic toxicity is low, but mild sensitization.

This product is white crystalline powder, odorless, the color of the light gradually yellow.
This product is easily soluble in ethanol, trichloromethane or ether, slightly soluble in fat oil, and very slightly soluble in water.
The melting point of this product is 88 ~ 91℃.

1. UV absorbers. They are mainly used in sunscreen and tanning cosmetics, and are chemically stable to light and air. They are safe for the skin and have the ability to form a film on the skin. They can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays in the long-wave region of 280-320nm. The addition amount is usually around 4%.

2. Local anesthetics, used for itching and pain relief on wound surfaces, ulcers, hemorrhoids, etc. The concentration used is 5%-20%. They are also used as intermediate in drug synthesis and organic synthesis.

It is also effective for toothache, pharyngitis, oral ulcers, various hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and vulvitis. It is used as a male genital desensitizer to slow down ejaculation, or as an anesthetic and lubricant for catheters and endoscope tubes.
